Exporting from Axis Studio
- Main Menu --> Advanced Settings
- Joint Space: Off
- In the Edit window, click Data Process
- This process will bake all contact points correctly for proper retargeting in 3Ds Max.
- Click Export
- File Type: Biovision (BVH)
- Skeleton: 3ds Max
- Data: Displacement Enabled
Retargeting in 3ds Max
Baking Animation
Let's prepare a Biped character to bake our animation data
- Open 3ds Max
- Click BIPED
- Update the character Height to 175
- Import the BVH exported file from Axis Studio by Load Motion Capture File
- In the import window, update the File Type to search for .BVH files
- Select your capture take
- In the import window, leave the default options alone
- Your animation is now baked into a BIPED character.
- Now save the result onto your local folder. This will created .bip 3Ds Max native file
