If you are having trouble with drift or noticing bones moving in the wrong direction. It could be time to calibrate your sensors. The following article will walk you through on how to calibrate your sensors.
Before calibrating:
- Give the sensors at least 5 minutes to cool down after a full charge
- Make sure the sensors are all in the charging dock
- Place the charging dock in the performance space. Set it on a surface free of magnetic interference. We recommend using the case the comes with your PN3
- Turn all the sensors on
There are a total of two different sensor calibrations that can be achieved in Axis Studio. Each calibration steps are import and allows the sensors to capture real-time data correctly.
The two calibration steps are:
- Magnetic Calibration
- Steady Calibration
We recommend performing the magnetic calibration first before the steady calibration.
Magnetic Calibration
The Magnetic Calibration step calibrates the magnetometer. This step ensures that all the sensors know which way is north. Run this calibration if you notice drift or if the Sensor Map/Device Details panel indicate that the sensors are magnetized.
The magnetic calibration also helps your sensors adapt to their environment, so it's best to perform it in your performance space.
Magnetic Calibration
- Make sure the sensors are in their dock and rest it on the palm of your hand.
- Go to Main Menu --> Magnetic Calibration
- Click Connect
- Make sure all the sensors appear on the Sensor Map
- Click Start
- Place you other hand on top of the sensors and rotate the dock in a figure 8 motion 4-5 times. Flip the dock upside down and then rotate it in a figure 8 another 4-5 times. Repeat this process until the calibration is complete. If the sensors are highly magnetized, you may need to repeat this process a few times.
Steady Calibration
The Steady Calibration calibrates the gyroscope. This ensures that all the sensors are facing the same direction. It is very important that the sensors do not move during this process. Run this calibration if you notice bones moving in the wrong direction.
To perform a Steady Calibration:
Go to Main Menu --> Steady Calibration
- Click Connect
- Make sure all the sensors appear on the Sensor Map
- Click Start
